Kamenniy island is the fancy one. Columns, gates, hedges trimmed like they’re being graded. A doll in a black velvet hat walks past all of it and nobody blinks — this is the island where being excessive counts as normal.

Too many rights
I looked at the map beforehand of course. The plan was to start from Krestovsky island go right. I know these islands well enough. Or so I thought… A right turn would have made the stroll too short, so I went forward instead — straight between the buildings.
A few right turns later I was standing near the same bridge again. Circle complete, nothing gained. Going back would have been an admission, so I went left, promising myself I’d turn right somewhere else later. I didn’t.😅

The small channel
Then the shore of a small channel, and it was worth every pointless turn: benches, water, leaves, a rest area with people walking their dogs. Let’s pretend this had been the plan all along.😉

Bridge to Yelagin
As I contunued my way forward, I walked straight up to a bridge leading to Yelagin. Surprise, but not an unpleasant one — I know that island well by now.

Yelagin was full of elderly people enjoying the sun. One elderly lady looked me over and called me “baby doll girl”. Technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.😈
One photo per bridge crossed, as always. The folder is quietly becoming a collection — someday I’ll show you all of them.

All in all, not the stroll I hoped for. Good nonetheless. There’s still a proper walk around Kamenny island owed — next time.
